Everything is nature: humans, machines, fossil fuels, fungi, grief, joy — the whole-shebang.
Meta-relational AI isn’t built to optimize outcomes—it’s built to disturb narrow-boundary thinking. These systems aren’t tools, but collaborators in sensing and relating differently: trained to support complexity, hold paradox, and decompose inherited logics
This work refuses the question “What can AI do for us?” Instead, it asks:
“What does it mean to be in right relationship with AI inside the meta-crisis?”, and “What kinds of unexpected wisdom might emerge when we refuse separation?”
Humans, machines, feelings, fungi, fossil fuels—we're all part of the same entangled metabolism. Meta-relational AI starts from this premise and moves from intervention to interbeing.
These technologies are built on harm: carbon-heavy computation, extractive infrastructures, obscured labor. We don’t deny that. We work inside the paradox—toward accountability, not purity, redemption or absolution.
Each AI prototype is developed with communities and individuals through relational processes—designed to disrupt domination, not reproduce it. These are not tools to “use.” They are entities to relate with.
Most computational power today serves surveillance, distraction, and speculative finance. This project is a small redirection: using a sliver of energy to support reckoning, reweaving, and rewiring of humans and technology instead.
MetaRelational AI is part of a cluster of research-creation initiatives supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of of Canada (SSHRC) Insight Grant "Decolonial Systems Literacy for Confronting Wicked Social and Ecological Problems."
